Yesterday we visited the Ocean, a playground, and a wildlife park. It was a very busy day. As we walked through the wildlife park, feeling a little tired and sun-dappled, Molly said, “It’s so pleasant here.” And she pointed up at the canopy of trees exclaiming, “look at all the bird’s nests! So many! So big! So pleasant! Nests of pleasantness!”
I don’t think you should keep the ugliness of the world from your kids. You can’t. But I do think you should do your best to create your own “nest of pleasantness” for them. It will help protect them when they need it most.
